About Chef Angelo Georgalli
I've been cooking and learning about flavours since I was kid in Cypress, hanging around the kitchen with my mother as she whipped up delicious Italian-Greek meals for her family of growing boys, licking spoons, smelling aromas, and learning about cooking, baking, and preserving from scratch. What an honour to learn from those who's passion for fresh, healthy food has been passed down for centuries!
My adventures in food have taken me from a London Greek Deli to travelling the world experiencing different styles and cultures of cooking, to a year in Italy, and finally to Auckland, where my beautiful wife, Steph, and I set up three popular deli cafes.
But it wasn't until we came to Wanaka that our true journey began. Here, in the stunning Southern Alps, we discovered what it really means to be alive.
Dreams come true......
And in 2015 my dreams were answered. The Game Chef series allowed me to share my passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gathering, and cooking in the wilderness.
The Game Chef became so popular, National Geographic bought the series to screen in over 90 countries around the world, and the accompanying cookbook was named in the Top Ten Cookbooks of 2015 as voted by readers of The Listener. As you can imagine, I'm fairly proud!
